We create a network, but we call it a notwork because it is not about work - and the word network is overused, as many words. Yes, that is really a problem with words. Some of them feel fresh and fancy, often for a short while, and then, suddenly, you have heard them too much. Like sustainable, holistic, authentic, real. Network is the same. It is not the idea of meeting other people, and sharing experiences, knowledge, wisdom, and of course contacts, that is out of date, it is the word. Every word we use tends to put us in a specific category of people, too business oriented, too much new-age, etc.
So, bending the words may help a little. Just a little, so you can by-pass the first reaction of categorising, and instead start reflecting. A notwork is for people who have experiences of networks not working - maybe because there are not the right people - or the wrong right people.
If we say, do you want to meet the right people?, maybe you feel that that is so obvious that you don’t listen. So, think of meeting the wrong people. That can be something much more interesting.
The issue of communicating is, I feel, more and more complicated. To write words is a delicate matter. Today you can give the task to an AI and get some sort of good result. Maybe still not of the highest estetical level, and probably not very personal. So, today and in future, the only rational reason to write any kind of text, is that you like to do it, you feel that you develop through doing it. I can feel that, I can feel that the struggle of writing a text can help me to gain new insights. And if someone responds to what I wrote, I feel the meaning of that, which is higher for me compared to if I asked an AI assistant to do the writing. -Even if that text has a lot of more fantastic words and a great variation and is full of adjectives.
I can’t see any way in the long run to beat AI in such things as text writing. So, skip the competition. Do it only if you value what you learn from doing it. -But, I must say, if you don’t value such things, I believe you may miss out on important sources of wisdom. Which, of course, is not important for everyone.
